Sylvia Fraser's Biography
Sylvia Fraser has spent more than four decades integrating Christian theology, pastoral care, counselling, discipleship and spiritual formation. Her work is shaped by a rare combination of academic training, clinical exposure, and deep pastoral experience.
Sylvia trained in England at CWR (Christian Workers Resource) under the late Selwyn Hughes and a team of psychologists, where she first encountered the integration of emotional development, pastoral counselling, and Christian spirituality.
She holds a Diploma of Pastoral Care and Counselling from the University of the Nations (YWAM), and later completed an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Pastoral Care through Sturt University, including specialised units in:
- Suicide Risk and Assessment (Griffith University)
- Discipleship and Spiritual Formation (St Mark Theological Colledge)
Her professional work includes serving in Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault units, where she supported survivors through crisis, recovery, and long‑term healing. She has also assisted in establishing several Christian counselling services across Australia, mentoring leaders, pastors, and emerging counsellors. And for Twenty five years a credential minister (itinerant preacher/teacher).
In 1991, Sylvia authored the nationally accredited course, Diploma of Christian Counselling and Community Education, published through Christian Seminar & Training Services. This pioneering program became a foundational integration of theology, psychology, and community education, and continues to influence Christian counselling practice today.
Sylvia’s ministry is marked by a deep commitment to helping people discover identity, belonging, and healing through secure attachment with God and others. Her work blends:
